Distribution

Question Three: What type of media institution might distribute our media product and why?

Our thriller can attract the young audience yet at the same time a mid-20s to 30s audience, I say this because we have elements of shock and suspense which most hollywood thrillers have. When we interviewed those in their mid-30s they said they like the idea unknown feelings which are created by the film, they feel involved.

I thought I could make a mind map to illustrate my ideas in a simpler way than reading paragraphs. It was made on a site called http://www.onemotion.com/flash/sketch-paint/

For the UK, FilmFour might distribute it since most audiences can identify with it. In the USA most may want to distribute our thriller. It could be watched at cinema (digital) most people go to the cinema as a social day out. It could also be watched on the internet, Youtube, DVD and maybe on television; the younger audience are highly into new technology therefore they can be reached through technology (e-mails, phones, computers). A high-tech campaign would be the best way for them to know that Mistaken Identity is out.

The film Shifty was clever with their marketing strategy, they used a viral campaign. They took the bold colour scheme of 'Kill Bill' therefore targeting the 'Kill Bill' audience through colour. The "urban" audience through urban rap music which is not even present in the film. Finally a house audience with the actually type of music. They created three types of trailers so they could get their film out to a wider audience.

Our Audience

Question Four: Who would be the audience, for your media product?

When we were in the process of developing our ideas for our thriller, I made a survey which was aimed to teenagers and young adults. We asked what they enjoyed most about thrillers, when we were developing our final idea even further, we kept in mind the feedback we received, altered a few aspects and it was aimed at them.

Some of the comments which we got which people liked about thrillers, I made it into an interesting image which I made at wordle.net

Address the Audience

This is question five: How did we attract/address the audience?

We tried to get the audience to be able to identify to the characters within the thriller. They were roughly similar ages, the location of our thriller was in a park; which is a common hang out point for teenagers and young adults. They would watch the film because they might be interested in thrillers, they would continue to watch because our plot may intrigue them. They become curious, why did the antagonist want to murder the protagonist? Will he get caught? What will happen next? Music is a big part of our generation now, making music a big aspect to think about while making a thriller and choosing the right music which will hook the audience in the opening of the film.

Some comments which we received about our thriller, Mistaken Identity.

This comment from Timothy is the perfect example of the audience being interested in music. Which means we choose the right type of music, that would appeal to our target audience.
These two comments imply they enjoyed it, therefore the people who we targeted the thriller for is a success, since they all enjoyed it and appraise us for our hard work and efforts.

Technology

This is question six of the evaluation, to answer this question I created it in a slideshow and presented the work in a fun, easy way for everyone to understand.

What I have learnt

Question seven: Looking back at my preliminary task, what do I feel I have learnt from in the progression from it to the product?

preview35 pieceWhat I Have Learnt.

This image is from our preliminary task, the one below is from our final piece. We used similar techniques that we used in our first ever filming, however the viewer will be able to see a clear progression within our work.

In both clips there were walking scenes, I was able to develop my editing skills, by slicing and attaching scenes together. Editing skills were better in the final piece because I was able to practice the skills; whereas in the preliminary task it was my first attempt at ever editing and there are glitches in some parts of the editing.
